A pilot project is expanding in Lunenburg and Queens counties.
South Shore Helping Hands has been used in Lunenburg and Mahone Bay for over a year.
Community Coordinator Leslie Taylor says it allows people to help others.
“From dropping people off to doctors appointments and just getting out and talking to people and visiting with people and having a cup of tea means the world to somebody who sees nobody day in and out.”
Volunteers are screened before they can help people in their area.
Initial steps have been taken to offer similar programs in Aspotogan, New Germany and Caledonia.
