Stella Bowles Gets Standing Ovation At Province House

A 12-year-old Bridgewater girl has been recognized in the provincial legislature.

Stella Bowles was at Province House yesterday to bring attention to straight pipe pollution in the Lahave River.

She says the response was overwhelming.

“Suzanne Lohnes-Croft introduced me and I got a standing ovation,” she says. “I thought ‘woah, they’re clapping at me.’ It was really cool.”

Bowles also got a chance to speak with Environment Minister Margaret Miller.

Miller says it’s young people like Bowles who can get the ball rolling on real change.

She says straight pipes are illegal and she’s glad to see someone so young standing up to say enough is enough.
