High winds and snow has caused a shut down of schools and businesses in the South Shore.
Environment Canada has issued storm surge and blizzard warnings.
Snow started around 11 p.m. last night and the weather agency is forecasting 40 to 50 centimetres of snow today.

Another 10-15 centimetres is expected to fall this evening.
The snow will be accompanied by wind gusts of up to 110 kilometres an hour.
Nova Scotia Power says over 850 people are without electricity around South Brookfield and Pleasant River in Lunenburg and Queens counties.
Another 450 people are without power in Lockeport.
There are also small outages in Birchtown, Sable River, Southwest Port Mouton and Port Medway.
The Emergency Management Office says transportation crews are out in full force trying to keep roads as clear as possible.

All schools in the South Shore and Tri-County are closed.
NSCC Campuses in Lunenburg, Shelburne and Yarmouth are also closed.
