Yesterday’s storm has resulted in almost 1,700 outages.
Winds forecasted at up to 140 km/h knocked down trees and caused damage to power lines.
Before the storm, Nova Scotia Power had assembled 1,000 people to respond to the outages.
That’s the largest pre-storm mobilization of personnel in the utility’s history.
On their website, the power corporation is reporting many of the outages won’t be repaired until 11:30 Sunday night.
They say crews will begin restoring power as soon as it’s safe to do so.
But the personnel may have to wait until winds are no longer gusting above 80 km/hour.
(2/2) Crews have been restoring power when it is safe to do so and will continue through the night depending on the winds. When winds are gusting above 80 km/h, they have to make on-site assessments of whether to pause restoration until it’s safe to continue work. #NSStorm
