The province’s transportation minister will be among a group of delegates headed to Big Tancook Island mid-week for a tour and public meeting. Geoff MacLellan will join Chester-St.Margarets MLA Denise Peterson-Rafuse and municipal leaders to discuss the condition of the Little Tancook Island wharf. It’s in need of repair and residents are hoping for answers. In addition to the wharf issue, Peterson-Rafuse says the condition of the ferry serving the Tancook islands will also be on the agenda. She says: “The only way that we can go forward is to start the discussions and the planning for a new ferry. So, I do hope the Minister will see that and commit to the effort to get Tancook Island a new ferry in the future.”
The Transportation Minister says he’s is aware of the ferry’s condition and it’s importance to the people of Big and Little Tancook Islands. The meeting will be held Wednesday beginning at 11:30am at the recreation centre on Big Tancook Island.
