The Nova Scotia Scotia Teachers Union is taking the province to court.
The McNeil government passed Bill 75 in February to impose a contract on teachers and put an end to the work to rule job action.
The NSTU says the controversial legislation violates the Charter of Rights.
In a release, NSTU President Liette Doucet says government took numerous steps to erode NSTU’s ability to engage in a fair collective bargaining process.
She calls the government actions both reckless and inappropriate, and says they prevented teachers from negotiating a fair contract that included needed reforms to improve classroom conditions.
The NSTU has taken the first step of filing the mandatory two-month notice of application with the Nova Scotia
Attorney General for a Charter Challenge.
