The Best Snack – Popcorn

Growing up, I remember a key part of my early teens was being home Saturday nights, watching a movie and making stovetop popcorn. No, not with those expanding aluminum foil Jiffy Pop pans but the really old fashioned way with a little oil in the bottom of a pot, and most importantly – a cover for the pot.

It was a fine art to shake and shimmy the pot to get as many of those last kernels to pop without burning the other ones on the bottom. However, it was easy to pick those burnt ones out and feed them to the dog or your little brother.

Since then I think most people have moved to a hot air popper or the ultra convenient microwave popcorn. Did you ever make popcorn on the stovetop? And did you add or sprinkle anything on your popcorn once it made it to the bowl?
