The Municipality of Chester is looking into building three new wind turbines.
The decision came in the 11th hour with the first step in the process due today.
Warden Allen Webber says investment in clean energy can be a gamble but it’s worth taking.
“It’s only if you’re prepared to take that risk, and mitigate it if you can, that you’re ever going to be able to ween yourself off taxation as your only source of revenue, and I’m just happy we have to opportunity.”
Webber says the municipality has tested these waters before with the single turbine they built last year.
He says they’re feeling confident wading into the process again.
The turbines would be built onto the Ellerhouse wind farm in West Hants.
The total cost of the project is expected to be $13 million .
