For the second time this year a tractor trailer carrying seafood went off the road.
RCMP received a call just before midnight a transport truck carrying almost 30,000 pounds of lobster and frozen haddock went into a ditch on Hwy 103 between Exits 6 and 7.
Lunenburg RCMP Sgt. Mark MacPherson says the truck was going west and crossed three lanes of traffic before coming to a stop.
MacPherson says the driver was found unconscious.
He also had a dog with him and MacPherson says the dog is safe.
“The person who stopped to help was able to rouse the driver,” he says.
“He’s suffered some minor injuries and possibly a concussion.”
MacPherson says the accident left quite a mess.
“That’s still being cleaned up, as well as the truck being removed. There is also a significant amount of some fluid that was lost from the vehicle [and] there could be some further clean-up there.”
RCMP are still on scene and investigating the cause of the crash.
MacPherson says traffic on outbound lanes between Exits 6 and 7 will be re-routed through Highway 3 until early to mid afternoon.
