A suppertime water rescue in Liverpool last (Sunday) night helped bring two men back onto dry land.
Liverpool Fire Crews, along with RCMP and EHS responded to an overturned canoe at the mouth of the Mersey River near Lane’s Privateer Inn, just after 5pm.
Second Deputy Fire Chief, John Long, says they were quick to act upon arrival at the location.
“We launched the boats by Lane’s and it wasn’t very long from the time the boats were launched until they were back on shore,” says Long. “There were two adult males in the water; we used our new rescue boat and another member used their boat as well.”
While it’s not clear just how long both men were in the water for, they were transported to local hospital and later released.
