The Americans struck first in the opening leg of the 64th International Dory Races in Gloucester.
The U.S. won three of the five races during Saturday’s competition.
Kath Moore and Gail Atkinson along with Josh Bell and John Ernst won races for the Canadians in the women’s and junior divisions.
The second leg of the competition will be held in Lunenburg in August.
Rowers will try and qualify for those races later this summer.
