Non-profit groups across the region are getting a boost.
The United Way of Lunenburg County announced their allotments for the next year.
Coordinator Michael Graves says over 21 programs will share in almost $120,000 in funding.
“We reach out in the community in January. Ask the non-profit community to submit applications for funding for programs and projects that are going to make a difference for Lunenburg County kids, women, seniors, families and communities.”
About 60 percent of that funding goes to youth programming.
Graves says most of the money they raise comes from employees making a small donation on every paycheque.
“If every single working person in Lunenburg County contributed 15 cents a day to the Untited Way, we’d have $1.2 million dollars every year to invest in those same kids, families, seniors, women.”
And that small donation makes a big difference in the lives of people most in need.
