UPDATED: Four Dead, Two Are Fredericton Police Officers

Fredericton Police have now confirmed that two of the four dead are officers from their police force.

Of the four people killed in this morning’s shootings on Brookside Drive, two were Fredericton Police officers. No names are being released at this time. Please appreciate this is a difficult time for their families and our colleagues. We will provide more info when we can.

They responded at around 7:45 this morning to a residence on Brookside Drive, which is on the north side of the city.

Streets between Main Street and Ring Road were cordoned off.

One person has been taken into custody.

At this time we can confirm that we have one suspect in custody.

Police continue to have the Brookside area contained for the foreseeable future as the investigation is ongoing.

We spoke to someone in the neighbourhood who says he was helping people on the street find safety. He says there is a feeling of panic in the air.

Children attending summer camps at the Nashwaaksis school were moved to another location.

Fredericton police are escorting people from the area.

Police are asking people not to post about their location while they shelter in place and also not to post where they see police.
