The official opening of the new 16-million dollar Queens General Hospital project in Liverpool will take place next Tuesday. The expansion and rebuild has been underway for years. Project planning director Margo Walsh-Leaman says with the latest high tech tools available, the new facility will be a leader in community health care. She says: “We really think this will take us into the next 25 years quite comfortably. Lots of natural light, lots of mobility for age. So, yeah, I think its going to be a really terrific move for all of us.” The new and improved Queens General will include a 22-bed medical unit and a new collaborative health centre. The new unit has a number of built-in features designed to promote safety, healing, efficiency, privacy and confidentiality and address the unique needs of an aging population. More than three-quarters of the funding for the project has come from the communtiy.
