Vandals Target Civic Signs, Mailboxes in Blockhouse

Residents along the Cornwall Road in Blockhouse are expressing concern after numerous properties fell victim to acts of vandalism late Sunday night.

A local resident tells Acadia News that sometime between 2 and 3am, persons unknown damaged and removed numerous civic numbers and mailboxes in front of homes along the road.

This particular area has a large number of seniors and retirees living in the area, which for the most part, is a very quiet area.

Acadia News went to the area Wednesday and learned not only were residential homes targeted, so were two local businesses.

“I came in to work the morning after it happened and noticed that some of the steaks here in our parking lot got busted off, and then later on wwe heard that a couple of other places along here got hit too,” says Billy, and employee at CSN-County Collision. “You’re always going to get kids doing that kind of stuff, it’s too bad that it has to happen.”

Billy brought it to the attention of the owner who then reviewed video surveillance footage from cameras on the property.

“She had gone and looked at the security footage and noticed that there was two to three people early in the morning, had gone by, stopped across the road and had messed with civic signs,” adds Billy.

Acadia News has also learned that a local convenience store in the area had their water supply tampered with by unknown person the same night.

Chester District RCMP are investigating.
