Vigil For Peace Planned In Bridgewater in wake of Iran Plane Crash

Communities around the country have been hosting events honoring the 176 people killed in Wednesday’s plane crash, 63 of whom were Canadian.

On Friday the South Shore Council for Canadians released a statement saying.

” As a close ally of the United States, Canada could be forced into a needless war with Iran that would threaten millions of lives and cause widespread devastation. Canadians must send a strong message to our government that we are against any war with Iran.”

The statement added, “De-escalation and continued diplomacy are the only way forward to help prevent another war — and as a community, we must take a stand for peace.”

To send a message they will be hosting a vigil for peace on Saturday, Jan. 11th at 2 p.m. The event will take place at 129 Aberdeen Road, in front of MP Bernadette Jordans’ office.
