Many people are heading to Shelburne this weekend for a must-see event. Its the annual Whirligig and Weathervane Festival. Its the first of its kind in North America and features a variety of crafted gadgets, painted up to whirl and spin in the breeze. Whirligig Treasurer John Brown says the festival has become a fall tourist attraction. He says: “We used to have it in the summer along with Founders’ Day which we found the wind was better in the fall. We had enough interest that we could be a stand alone festival. We did and its worked out great ever since.” The festival runs today (Saturday) and Sunday with cash prizes for winners in numerous categories.
