Wild Rose Park Damaged By Recent Storm

The latest winter storm left its mark on a park in Western Shore.

High tide, strong wind combined with rain and snow on Tuesday night sent hundreds of rock, seaweed and other debris onto the lawn and parking lot area of Wild Rose Park.

The conditions caused a fair amount of damage also to the retaining wall.

Director of Recreation and Parks, Chad Haughn, says public works staff are assessing the situation and are in the early stages of cleanup.

The cost of the damage is not yet known.

“There needs to be a more in-depth inspection especially on the retaining wall, justt to ensure that retaining wall wasn’t compromised in any way. We’re hoping it’s just esthetics.”

Haughn says some equipment will be needed to remove rock and repair washed out walkways.

The park is off limits to the public until further notice.
