Yarmouth Mayor: No Decision Yet On Visitor Information Centre

Yarmouth’s mayor says there has been no decision made about the future of its visitor information centre.

The province is mulling the thought of closing its six VIC’s after shutting down centres in Digby and Pictou last year.

The centres in question include two in Halifax, Peggys Cove, Port Hastings, Amherst and locally in Yarmouth.

Pam Mood hopes the Nova Scotia government will keep it open.

“We have an international ferry landing in Yarmouth. We certainly need a visitor information centre to service the guests.”

Mood says numbers are increasing at the centre and questions the thought of closing it near the beginning of tourist season.

Further talks are expected with the province before a decision is announced.
