Yarmouth: Mayor Welcomes Start Of New Bus Service

A new bus service in Yarmouth has started providing transportation to those in need.

The 14-passenger vehicle began its service today.

It travels through most of the town with 16 scheduled stops including the hospital, NSCC campus and arena.

Mayor Pam Mood says people can also flag down the bus, but it will be done safely.

“I don’t think you can just pop out from behind a hedge and flag it down. I think you have to be visible, you have to be in a safe spot and it has to be safe for the bus to stop.”

Mood says she’s absolutely thrilled with the new service and feels it’s something the town desperately needs.

The bus will run six days a week, including 12 hours daily from Monday to Friday.

The vehicle provides a wheelchair lift and a bike rack.
