Libraries Offering Free Passes To History

South Shore Public Libraries is helping residents interact with history.

They’ve once again partnered with the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic to provide family passes to the museum, free of charge.

Troy Myers, Chief Librarian says they can be signed out just like any other library material.

“Where it really works is when you’ve got friends and family in town and you want to take them out and show them the museum and they go, wow, this is fantastic, we’ve heard a lot about this space. So the feedback’s been great.”

Myers says the arrangement is a winning one for everyone involved.

“Sometimes if you’re taking a whole family it can turn into an expensive afternoon out. We decided it was great. They (the library) love it and it’s worked well for us. They’re always checked out, always a waiting list, so we’re pretty excited that it’s back.”

Myers says the passes are popular but people can put their names down on a reserve list.

They are available now until October.
