Shelburne: Missing Person Located With Help From Ground Search and Rescue

There was a happy ending to a missing person story after an ATVer was found safe Tuesday morning following a night in the woods.

Corporal Jennifer Clarke says a man went missing around 7 p.m and his friends searched unsuccessfully for a little over two hours in the Upper Clyde River area near Shelburne.

Barrington RCMP received a call just before 10:00 p.m Monday night.

“They searched for him for about two hours, just the group that he was with, and were not able to locate him and contacted police. They did search through the night with ground search and rescue volunteers from the area.”

Clarke says a helicopter was brought in Tuesday morning and they got some help from modern technology.

“The individual was located about 11:00 a.m Tuesday. The person who was missing used a cell phone to call 9-1-1 and, with those co-ordinates, we were able to get the helicopter in to that particular area and locate him and get him out safe and sound”

She says the RCMP would like to thank the volunteers from Shelburne and Yarmouth ground search and rescue teams for their hard work and dedication.
