Anticipation Growing For Bikes For Kids Give Away

The bikes are fixed and it’s almost time for kids to call dibs on their favourites.

This is the fifth year for the Bikes for Kids program put on by United Way of Lunenburg County.

Coordinator Michael Graves says they were able to collect about 60 used bikes from the community to give away to families who are most in need.

“Now when we give them the bike there’s a final fitting. This is done by the O’Regan’s Subaru cycling team. Make sure the bike is fitted to their body size. So, there’s an adjustment to the seat, that kind of thing.”

Starting on Monday the children who’ve qualified will be able to log onto a website where they can see pictures of the restored bicycles.

The bike is then put aside for that child to collect during the bike give away on June 8.
