The new proposed Business Improvement District on King Street has some owners in a quandary.
Manager of the Bridgewater Development Association says, while most property owners would like to see improvements, they don’t come without a cost.
“They would be levied based on the assessed value of their property. As they do with any costs they have, they pass along any terms of rent increase to their tenants,” said Scott.
Scott says this is a concern for owners with residential tenants, in particular, who may not accept rent hikes.
A vote on whether to go ahead with the proposed business improvement district will be held on Tuesday.
