Canada Wins Sledge Hockey Challenge Opener

Canada won their first game at the World Sledge Hockey Challenge Sunday night.

Team Captain, Greg Westlake, says it was a great moment but he’s not letting it go to his head.

“We have to be thoughtful of the fact that they just traveled from Russia to the east coast, and they were probably still a bit jet lagged,” he says. “I’ve traveled and played before and that first game is a tough one.”

Canada takes on Korea tomorrow but Westlake says he’s not ready to think about that yet.

“We’re going to be in some battles,” he says, “so, I think for us you just stay mentally tough. You know, you go back to the hotel, you drink some water, you get some rest and I’ll worry about Korea tomorrow.”

Westlake scored the first goal of the night less than one minute into the game.

The final score was 5-1.

Meanwhile in the other game, U.S beat Korea 8-1.

The Americans will play the Russians tomorrow.
