CAT Crossings Cancelled Today Due To Engine Problems, Bay Ferries Working On Fix

The CAT ferry is being worked on today in Portland, Maine.

Engine problems continue on the high speed vessel, and Bay Ferries had to cancel both scheduled sailings today.

To help customers here in Yarmouth, they’ve added two departures tonight on the MV Fundy Rose from Digby to Saint John and back.

The company says a full technical crew consisting of their personnel and the CAT’s engine manufacturer are undertaking a thorough assessment of an engine issue identified yesterday.

They say their goal is to implement a fast and effective repair program so the CAT can continue sailing this season.

Bay Ferries had to modify the schedule last month due to a problem on the starboard outer main engine.

The CAT is now scheduled to make just five round trips per week, as opposed to seven for the month of August.
