Centennial Trail Walking Bridge Will Be Temporarily Closed For Repairs

The Town of Bridgewater is undertaking two projects in the coming weeks to improve some of their outdoor spaces including bridge renovations on the Centennial Trail that will result in the bridge’s closure during working hours.

Crews will be installing a new railing on the bridge and replacing some of the weathered floorboards. As such it will be an active construction site throughout the day and the public will not be able to utilize the bridge.

Once work is completed daily the construction equipment will be moved and the bridge will open for the day, the Town says work will generally take place between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily.

So users will be allowed on the trail in the evening and it will also be opened on weekends for the entire day.

The other project is less noticeable, however important, and will see a new restraining wall installed at Mariners Landing.

Town Communications Officer Patrick Hirtle says that sidewalks in that area of town will be shut down at times so the work can be done safely.

Both projects are expected to begin in the next few weeks and should take around three weeks to complete, weather dependent.
