Volunteers will be collecting donations for the Salvation Army kettle campaign starting this week.
The yearly fundraiser begins on Friday.
Major Wilson Sutton, from the Bridgewater church says people in Lunenburg County have always been generous.
“The people in the area want to help at Christmas,” he says. “They have a giving heart. They want to make sure that someone has a Christmas, and that’s what puts a smile on someone’s face.”
Sutton says without the funds they raise each year many people in the area wouldn’t be able to afford a Christmas.
He says every cent goes to help people in the community.
Last year they raised around $60,000 dollars.
