Bridgewater’s police chief is set for a pre-trial conference in August.
John Collyer’s lawyer David Bright was present in Supreme Court in Bridgewater today to settle the pre-trial date.
August 9 was chosen.
Earlier dates were made available by the court, however, Bright said he was unavailable due to conflicts in his schedule including another trial.
Trial dates will likely be chosen at the pre-trial conference.
Collyer has been charged with sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl and two counts of sexual exploitation.
The alleged offences are believed to have occurred between April 1, 2016, and July 31, 2016.
Collyer elected to stand trial by judge alone in Supreme Court.
The chief was placed on administrative leave from Bridgewater Police Services in 2016 after a Serious Incident Response Team investigation began.
