A fire this morning at the Lions Club in Liverpool is affecting some programming.
Member Terry Whynot was walking into the building on Gorham Street when he noticed lots of smoke.
Firefighters were called and the fire was out by the time they arrived.
It was determined to be an electrical fire.
Whynot says the top floor wasn’t damaged but there is some clean-up and repair needed on the two other floors.
He says their radio bingo service is cancelled until further notice.
“Because we need new books and getting everything sorted out. The books people got are okay, we’ll be using them. But, for the Liverpool area they wouldn’t have any books for this week.”
Whynot says he’s not sure how much it will cost to repair parts of the club.
He says they were lucky the fire didn’t cause more damage and a worse situation.
Whynot says the club hopes to have things up and running as soon as possible.
