Ethan Ringer Wins Lieutenant Governor’s Respectful Citizen Award

A Grade 6 student in Liverpool has been recognize for his leadership and commitment.

Ethan Ringer who attends South Queens Middle School is the winner of the Lieutenant Governor’s Award.

Lt.-Gov. J.J. Grant presented the awards, which he began in 2013.

“This award recognizes young people who take the initiative to make positive changes and address the difficult issues facing their schools and communities,” said Lt.-Gov. Grant. “It is my hope that this award will encourage other young people, parents and educators, to undertake activities that will create safe and inclusive spaces and inspire respectful citizenship now and in the future.

Diagnosed with Austism Spectrum disorder, Ethan Ringer started spreading his positive message of inclusiveness at school with a classroom presentation.

The success of that class speech has grown into videos that can be shared around the world.

One of his nominators said Ethan has been a role model to his peers for his openness about Autism and his efforts to broaden minds.

The award was presented to Ethan at a ceremony at the Spatz Theatre in Halifax and also marked National Anti-Bullying Day in Canada.
