As Christmas wraps up, many are starting to think about how they’ll ring in the new year.
And White Point Beach Resort thinks they have the coolest way to do just that.
For the third year in a row, the resort is hosting their Polar Bunny Dip January 1.
Donna Hatt, Marketing and Product Development Manager for White Point, says they’re looking for 90 families who want to take the plunge.
“This year’s theme is all about our 90th anniversary at White Point Beach Resort,” she says.
“So we opened in 1928; we’re kicking off the year, 2018, on January 1st at 3:30 with our third annual Polar Bunny Dip.”
Despite the chilly temperatures, the events have proven popular.
Around 180 people attended last year’s Canada 150 themed dip.
Hatt wants to beat last year’s record.
“We are very confident that we’re going to have 90 families,” she says.
“And therefore, the goal is 90 families. [Ninety families] means at least more than one person, so that’s two people, so we will beat last year’s record of 173.”
First responders will be on site to keep an eye on swimmers.
The event is free and after you take a dip, you’re welcome to hop into the indoor pool and warm up with some hot chocolate.
