Fires Starting To Come Under Control

Fire crews are starting to see progress on the fires that have been burning in Queens and Annapolis counties since last week.

The Department of Natural Resources says crews and aircraft kept fires from spreading yesterday.

The largest at Seven Mile Lake in Annapolis county is now 35% contained.

The fire at Ten Mile Lake in Queens county is still challenging but contained.

Others in the province have seen no change in their status as crews have most of them contained and are working to get them out.

Several smaller fires popped up around the province yesterday but those have been either contained or extinguished.

DNR says people can still access beaches and provincial parks, but trail systems are restricted and the fire ban remains in effect.
