Support On The Way For Tired Firefighters

A group in Caledonia is working to provide some much needed support for the firefighters who’ve been battling several forest fires since last week.

The ladies auxiliary got to work this morning preparing hot meals those working to put the fires out.

President Judy Merry says it’s a simple thing that can make a huge difference.

“Sandwiches can only sustain you for so long, and after a while you’re ready for a hot meal,” she says. “This is going on five days for some of them.”

They’re not alone in their efforts.

Several other groups have also donated supplies like water and Gatorade.

Merry says the community has been quick to answer the call for food donations.

She says with continued support they plan to keep cooking until the fires are out.
