Mahone Bay Residents Donning Their Finest Donner Look

Lunenburg County residents will be dressing up in their finest antlers and red noses on Dec. 2nd.

It’s the Mahone Bay Reindeer Fun Run and Walk is a fundraiser to support The Lodge That Gives.

The Lodge provides accommodation for cancer treatment patients and their families.

Co-Director Bill Roblee says accommodations are expensive and people are travelling long distances for treatment.

“Spouses can stay there, or friends, and it’s a very reduced rate so they don’t have to be away from their family and friends when they’re in there,” he says.

“They get that support.”

Participants from five to 79 years old will be running through town and through Main Street.

Roblee says this put him in the Christmas spirit since he got permission for the event.

“Just floating,” he says.

“I’ve got 250 red noses sitting on my dining room table.”

The three-kilometre run starts at 5 o’clock.

It finishes at the Mug and Anchor for cider and cookies.

For anyone who can’t make the run, they can donate to The Lodge That Gives.
