Nova Scotia’s tourism industry had its best year in history in 2017 and its fourth consecutive year of growth.
According to Tourism Nova Scotia, a record 2.4 million visitors came to the province in 2017 with tourism revenue estimated at $2.7 billion.
Yarmouth MLA Zach Churchill says it shows the province’s commitment is paying off.
“We’ve invested in tourism marketing and more importantly we brought the ferry (Cat) back to bring tourism back. I’m so happy to see that our investments are paying off economically. We’ve got some amazing destinations in South Western Nova Scotia and along the South Shore and very dedicated tourism operators who are committed to giving our visitors the best possible experience”
There were 195,000 more visitors last year than in 2016, an increase of 9 per cent.
Tourism revenue increased by over $100 million, a 7 per cent more than the year before.
