George Thomas Welburn, 64, of Halifax, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on October 9, 2026, at West Bedford Transitional Health in Bedford.
Born in Halifax on July 21, 1962, George was the son of Marina and George Welburn Sr.
Throughout his life, George was deeply involved in his community, coaching both hockey and baseball. He was a passionate, lifelong fan of the Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Blue Jays and NASCAR. Above all else, George loved his loyal dog and best buddy, Stryker, who was never far from his side.
George is survived by his children, Ali, Darcy (Robynn), and Ryan; his grandchildren, Wrenn and Taron; his sister and lifelong “Sissy,” Angela; his mother, Marina; his niece, Amanda; and his cousins, Kelly and Richard.
He was predeceased by his brother, Clifford, and his father, George Sr.
In keeping with George’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. His final wish was to have his remains cremated alongside his faithful companion, Stryker. Arrangements entrusted to Personal Care Cremations and Memorial Services.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of the West Bedford Transitional Health team for their exceptional care. A very special thank you goes to his friend, Bob Wilson, whose regular visits and treats meant the world to George.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in George’s memory to Integrity’s Haven Equine Rescue Centre Society.
