Paramedics, Nurse Providing Help At Roseway Hospital

Help has arrived at Roseway Hospital in Shelburne.

Six new paramedics have completed their orientation and are expected to start this week.

The health minister promised extra staff when he met with councillors last month.

Fraser Mooney from the Nova Scotia Health Authority says he understands why the community is concerned.

“I think that we have been able to show that we are taking this very seriously and we are trying to put a plan in place to reduce the amount of closures.”

He says in addition to the paramedics, a new registered nurse has also started.

Two family physicians are also expected to arrive next year.
