A group in Queens County are coming together to try to rescue a Syrian Refugee Family.
The Queens Refugee Care Team hopes to offer a family from war torn Syria a new life in Liverpool.
Chairperson Sheila Redden-Smith says the biggest obstacle is not what you’d think.
“I’m quite confident that we’re going to get the money. We’re concerned about housing and that may determine how big of a family we bring in.”
Redden-Smith says they have raised about $8,000 so far but still need more community involvement to help support the transplanted family.
The group is holding their next meeting this Wednesday.
