Nova Scotians will light up the night next month.
While September is Blood Cancer Awareness month, the biggest fundaiser for the illness comes in October.
Regional Director with the Leukimia and Lymphoma Society, Joe DiPenta says it’s important to continue raising awareness about blood cancers.
“We need to continue to fund research so that we can push towards more treatment options, better treatment options, less harsh treatment options and ultimately, cures,” says DiPenta.
DiPenta says there’s been significant milestones in research thanks to funds raised.
A researcher in British Columbia found a drug that increases survival rates to 50% for those living with a blood cancer.
The Light the Night fundraiser happens October 21 in Halifax.
