The World Sledge Hockey Challenge has wrapped up in Lunenburg County, but its legacy will continue.
Dave Waters, co-chair of the challenge, says for him it was about showing children what’s possible.
“I grew up with a disability and I know what it’s like for kids that have a disability to go to school and to be treated somewhat different. When you’re in a sled, you don’t feel like you have a disability.”
Waters says having athletes to look up to makes a huge difference.
Some money has been set aside to fund a sledge hockey program at the LCLC.
The first four week course starts in February.
