Tension is mounting at Lunenburg Town Council.
A special council meeting was called last night to hold an in-camera meeting.
Councillor Brian Davis has been arguing council shouldn’t be going in-camera to discuss issues as often as they do.
After losing his request to hold the meeting in public, he refused to join the in-camera session.
Instead, he joined members of the public in the gallery while council held their meeting in another part of the building.

Council returned to chambers about 40 minutes later and ended the session without revealing what topic they were discussing away from the public.
This is the second meeting where Councillor Davis has raised the issue of in-camera discussions.

Meanwhile, Mayor Rachel Bailey says it’s disappointing that people are calling the integrity of town hall and its staff into question.
“There’s no basis for concern and that’s very troubling. And it’s very disappointing that people are being swayed by information that seems to have no basis in fact.”
Bailey says by choosing not to join council in the in-camera meeting, Councillor Davis is doing a disservice to the people who voted him into office.
“I don’t know how you can participate as a member of a team and not come to the game. It inhibits your ability to serve the people you’re elected to serve.”
Bailey says council has been assured by lawyers who specialize in Municipal Law that they are acting properly.
Council has arranged a training session tonight to help educate all councilors on municipal governance and answer any further questions they may have.
